The number of CSE candidates are increasing every year. The estimated figure for last year is around 5 lakh. However, about half of this figure appeared in the prelims. UPSC selects around 12 times the vacancies for mains and about 2.5 times vacancies for interview. So, a tough nut to crack indeed.
