The cut off marks in IES is not fix, they want certain no. of candidate & after fulfilling the no. of candidates they declare the cut off (i.e. marks of last rank candidate).
For example :-
IES 2010 cutoff out of 1000:
CiviL: 294
mechanical: 314
Electrical: 327
E&T : 410
The number of vacancies depend on the no of posts that are vacant in the respective year .
In 2011 there were 117 vacancies in IES for electrical engineers in different government departments.

ABOUT 50 SEATS ARE AVAILABLE FOR IES EXAM.
THERE CUTOFF DEPEND UPON NUMBER OF STUDENT.
