There is only one way to join apply for IAS.It is known as civil services exams.
The exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission),once in a year.
The qualification required is graduation from any stream.Age limit is 21 to 30 years for general candidate.
There are three stages of selection
1)Preliminary Exam.
2)Mains Exam.
3)Interview.

there is only one wa to become an IAS officer which is u have to prepare for IAS preexam and then u wll appear for main exam but there are the many subjects which u can choose as u want like in chemistry,physics,history,geology etc. But u have to choose two subjects for main pre will be same for all.
Dear there are following two ways to become an IAS Officer in India
1. Direct Recruitment Process which is through civil service examination which conducts every year by UPSC board in two sections as - Preliminary and Mains examination then Interview Process
If you wish to apply for this examination then you should have passed a bachelor's degree examination in any discipline from a recognized university and age should be between 21-30 years and relaxations in upper age as per government guidelines which are 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates
>> Preliminary examination : Objective type 2 papers and 200 marks for each and qualifying in this test is compulsory to be eligible for mains examination
>> Mains examination : Descriptive type 7 papers which are following as
1. Paper I - Essay - 200 marks and English Comprehension 100 marks
2. General Studies - I - 250 marks
3. General Studies - II - 250 marks
4. General Studies - III - 250 marks
5. General Studies - IV - 250 marks
6. Any one optional subject - 250 marks

Qualifying in each paper of mains exam is compulsory to get the call for interview process and if you qualify interview process also then you will get selected for the post of IAS Officer in India and before that you will get the training of 2 years then you will be posted to work somewhere in India
Second way to become an IAS Officer in India through promotion :
UPSC board provides promotion to those officers who gets selected through state service examination and gets various posts as Deputy Collector etc. and if they work good and fine then UPSC board gives them promotion directly to IAS Officer post but it takes a long time to get promoted and it is not easy to receive promotion from UPSC board but this is the second way to become an IAS Officer
