    Dear friend,

Well it depends upon your learning abilities, grasping power etc..It is generally said you should start your preparation one year before the prelims exam.

you have two full optional papers and GS to cover and also you have to prepare for your interview exam.so you have to give lot of time if you are a total fresher.

so roughly the exam process as a whole may take a minimum of two years.so you should have a lot of patience.

You can very well clear in the first attempt provided you work hard in the right direction right rom the beginning. There are many examples of candidates who clear in their first attempt itself.

start working right from the beginning in the correct path without any distractions so that you can reach your goal and get selected in the first attempt. It is neither very difficult nor easy so it depends upon your hardwork.

hope it is clear and i have answered all of your questions.

    all the best
