To become an IAS Officer you have appear/clear the prestigious Civil Services Exam(CSE).
CSE is conducted by UPSC every year to make recruitments to 24 services/posts.
Recruitments are made for posts like IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS,etc based on the rank in the Final Merit list.
CSE is conducted in 3 Phases:
1.Prelims/CSAT Exam
2.Mains Exam
3.Interviews
Tips for Preparations:-Clear your basic concepts by reading NCERT Books from the school level.
-Follow the syllabus of the UPSC CSE and prepare topics accordingly.
-Read atleast 2 good newspapers daily like The Hindu,Economic Times,etc.
Also make your notes on current affairs & other topics for revision later.
-Read good magazines like the CSR,Pratiyogita Darpan,Marnorama Year Book,etc.
-Read the Interviews & experiences of previous toppers of CSE and try to follow tips given by them.
-Solve previous year question papers and model test Papers.
-CSAT Exam requires knowledge of subjects like geography,sociology,history,economics,english,poli tical science,environment science,etc.
Prepare for CSAT Exam as top priority,after clearing CSAT you will be allowed to appear in next stage of exam i.e Mains Exam.
-Try to study for long study hours i.e.6-8hrs daily,make notes for revision and gain indepth knowledge on all subjects in the CSE syllabus.
-Mains exams is conducted to test the indepth knowledge and intellegence of the candidates.Two optional subjects have to chosen &
2 papers of each optional subject has to be prepared.Total 9 Papers for Mains Exams have to be prepared.
-Prepare simultaneously for CSAT Exam and Mains Exam.Very less time is left between results of CSAT Exam and Mains Exam Date.
Syllabus is very vast for Mains exams so prepare in advance for it also.
-For interviews try to develop your personality traits,leadership qualities,positive body language,
communication skills,interpersonal skills,confidence and positive attitude.
-You can participate in mock group discussions,ex-tempo speeches & interviews.
-Work hard there is no short cut to success,time management and stress management is imp.
For preparing for UPSC you should take care of following and they are as follows:
1.Read newspaper daily.
2.Read magazine also eg India Today.
3.Prepare your aptitude from RS Aggarwal.
4.Study some good general knowledge books
5.Study all history,geography,science books of cbse syllabus i.e. NCERT from class 6th till 10th.
6.Also take notes of economy,political science.

UPSC IAS exam is not easy. If you want to clear this exam then you have to lot of the hard work then only you will clear this exam. Without joining also you can clear this exam. No need to take the coaching if you confidence then you can clear the IAS exam easily. Main thing you should strong determination and confidence
This exam is conducted by the UPSC ,IAS means Indian Administrative Services You have to lot o the hard work in order to clear this IAS exam.

You have to read NCERT � CBSE history books especially from the X class .Because history related questions covers this syllabus only.
Also try to read many such good books and take the help of the seniors
Daily you have to make a habit of reading five to six hours
