UPSC exam stands for union public service commission.
upsc exam consists three stages;-
*preliminary
*mains
*interview
UPSC EXAM ELIGIBILITY;--
1-you must be graduate from a recognized university
2-age limit is 21-30 years
3-you must be Indian citizen
here is many optional subject in upsc.

Friend you should choose the optional subject according to your interest and desire.
As you mentioned that you are M. SC. From chemistry, so in my point of view you have chosen relevant subject according to your educational profile.
Chemistry is well familiar subject of you and you chosen geography as one another subject, Geography will be helpful for the preparation of general studies subject. At the place of geography you mat also choose History because history would be also helpful for GS section.
So friend you selection is perfect and now you have need to work hard for the preparation of civil service exam.
It is the quite tough exam and you will have to do very hard work to crack civil service exam.
