    How to become a rank holder in UPSC final exam?
    I am a BCom with MBA candidate, but i don't have very good subject knowledge.
    What is the Optional subject i can choose?
    What is the procedure to attend the exam?
    Shall i take Public administration subject for the optional subject?
    How to prepare for the UPSC exam?

    -The CIVIL SERVICES Exams are conducted annually by the UPSC.
    � The notifications of the release of application forms are made by the First week of February and the last date to apply is about in the first week of March.
    � There are two modes to apply : ONLINE or OFFLINE.
    � To apply ONLINE,you have to visit the website :: www.upsconline.nic.in
    The registration is completed in two parts.You will have to make the payment of the application form after filling in the Part-I.Only then will you be able to proceed to Part-II.
    � You can apply OFFLINE by purchasing the application kit from the regional Post Office.The price of the the form is Rs 20/-.
    Fill in the form,strictly as recommended on the Brochure,and post it on the desired address.
    � Make sure you apply only once.
    � The confirmation of your registration will be sent to you via mail on your e-Mail ID.


    - Choosing the optional subjects is a very vital part for the Mains exams.The two optional subjects carry as much as 1200 marks.
    � Being a student of Commerce and MBA,I would have recommended you to go for the COMMERCE & ACCOUNTANCY as your first choice.
    � But you having cleared that your subject knowledge is not good,I will advice you to opt for the ARTS subjects.
    � PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION is a very good choice you have made.It will not only be highly marks fetching in the Mains,but will also pave your path for the Preliminary Exams,and the Interviews too,because it will mainly deal with the Governance of India.
    � As for the other subjects you can choose from INDIAN HISTORY,GEOGRAPHY,SOCIOLOGY or ECONOMICS.
    � These subjects are highly scoring and have been preferred by all sorts of students in the past.
    � The Paper-I of the Preliminary Exams also basically constitutes of these.This will help you prepare for both the Prelims and Mains simultaneously,thus saving time.
    � However,the final call is yours.Choose subjects based upon your interests so that you enjoy studying them.

    � Improve your writing skills indefinitely.Get rid of Grammatical and spelling errors.
    � Practice writing a lot of essays.
    � Improve your knowledge of Current Affairs,General Studies and Social Studies by reading all sorts of books.

    � Be thorough with all the topics of your two optional subjects.

    Dear,
    It is very crucial decision for choosing the optional papers. So if You chose that subjects to which you have acquainted properly, then it will be easy to you to prepare for it. I think if you are good at your graduation subjects or MBA subjects, then you can choose these as your optional paper. Yes, you can take the Public Administration as your optional paper, because the majority of candidates take this subjects and the record of scoring is also good. So if you are well-known to this subject, then you can definitely take this subject as your optional papers. Lastly, for preparing to UPSC examinaiton, the most important thing is the proper time management. So you should manage your time table for it and work hard . Best of Luck
