hey friend IES and IAS have the equal status and equal powers and both the exams are conducted by the upsc only but there is a basic difference and that is IES stands for indian engineering service so it is necessary to have engineering degree to apply for IES and IAS stands for indian administrative services which requires any graduate degree,but the exam pattern is same for both.

Both IES and IAS are senior employee of Govt. But depends upon their sector whereas IAS dealt with PM , CM , as Secretariat while IES is at the same level but in technical cadre . Although people used to go for IAS generally as they were supposed to have more power than IES because of their routine proceedings with PM , CM and other senior Diplomats.

IES is related to Technical and managerial aspect while IAS is more of administrative aspect.So if you're interested in technical part then go for IES.

Engineering Services (ES) are the technical services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the government of India. At the time of selection candidates enjoy the rank of assistant executive engineer Foremost promotion will be based on rank you get in IES exam. After that promotions will depend on Seniority and other factors like confidential reports. Growth will be faster in some departments like Railways and slower in others like CWC.

15600 (Basic)+5400(Grade)+DA+HRA+others Gross would be around 36,000Rs per month.

I.A.S.officer had more power then I.E.S. officer .I.A.S. & I.E.S. exams are both conducted with upsc . but both types ,post and power are different .

IAS indian administrative services employess are more powerful then IES officers as former deals with range of administrative works of central govt. they are work simultaneously for both STATE or central govt.

whereas IES officers are deal only with the specific work of central govt. of technical nature likes of they take charges of TRAI,METRO RAILS,CIVIL WORKS,RAILWAY works, etc all of technical nature.

though both have same PAY-BAND scale but IAS have better growth among all the officer's of CLASS-A.
