Syllabus is following for Central Excise Officer exam :
This exam contains following three subjects which are :
1. General Intelligence and General Awareness or knowledge
2. General English language
3. Arithmetic Ability
There would be three steps to become an excise inspector under Central Indian Government which are :
1. Paper I - This would be in objective type pattern in which you will get two subjects which contains 200 questions means 100-100
2. Paper II - This would be your subjective type pattern of exam in which you will get some subjects and topics where you will have to write some descriptive conversations
3. Personality test or Interview process : If you would be succeeded in both pre and mains written examination then you will have to face interview process and other personality test which is most important to qualify.

Syllabus of Central Excise Officers Examination
The syllabus of the written examination conducted to the candidates who appear Central Excise
Officers Examination is provided here under.
General Intelligence:
It would contain questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualisation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation related concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate's abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computations and their analytical functions.
General English:
Questions in this test will be designed to assess the knowledge of English language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms etc. There will also be a question on comprehension of a passage.
Arithmetical Ability:
Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidates to perform fundamental arithmetical operations and his skill in working our problems relating to percentages, ratio and proportion, average estimation, rounding numbers, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time.
