no sir, civil services has nothing to do with politics.
It is not mandatory but a good knowledge will be helpful.You need not be an expert in political analysis but as an Administrative officer you will have to deal with all of these.In the interviews sometimes you will be asked about political situations or policies in your district,state or sometimes even about central govt policies.So it will be helpful if you have a slight knowledge so that if something comes up in the interview,you do not get a blank answer.
