TIPS FOR UPSC EXAM PREPARATION:
1. manage your time table
2. Start preparation according to UPSC syllabus for the exam.
3. Study 6th to 12th NCERT books also study MC grawhill books related to subjects.
4. Keep reading news papers and magazines daily.
5. try to solve previous year question papers.

just manage you time for studies,
select a time in which you will study only for the preparation of exam,
then make a time table for that time period and include every subjects in it and give appropriate time to each subjects ,
solve more and more practice papers .

If you follow right approach for UPSC preparation, then you can qualify the exam in first attempt itself.
As other members suggest, go through NCERT to strengthen your foundation, read regular Newspaper and Magazine.
If you specify your education background, then we can make your study plan effectively.

1) manage your time table for preparation
2) study previous year question papers in which topic most of questions are asked.
3)improve mental ability by solving logical qustions.
4)and last read current affairs ,focus on your optional subject, improve GK. etc.

The criteria for appearing in Civil Services Exam is :
1. Nationality : Indian
2. Academic qualification : Graduate in any stream from any recognized university.
3. Age limits : 21-30 (OPEN), 21-33 (OBC), 21-35(sc/st).
4. Attempts : OPEN-4 , OBC-7 ,SC/ST-9 .
