Because first IES for the engineers and also second think is your branch.
So i suggest you go for IAS exam .

Being an Economics graduate I will suggest you to prepare well and give civil services examination.Economics is also one of the optional provided by UPSC in main examiantion. As IES is conducted for engineering graduates for engineering works in civil,mechanical,electrical engineering and Elecronics and Telecommunication.
dear aspirant,both IAS and IES(Indian Economics Service) are good from carrier point of view. And Selection is depend on your interest. IAS is related to Administration Field and IES related to Economics Field. you can apply for IAS after graduation and for IES you need post graduation in Economics.
