Hello
There is no special importance that you will receive while applying for the UPSC civil services.Being a post graduate is a good prospect for future but honestly speaking, you will not get any special treatment when you apply for the civil services.
The minimum qualification that one needs to have to apply for the civil services is graduation. As you are a post graduate you are very much eligible for the applying but there is no special sort of treatment for a post graduate, you will get the same process and will have to go through the same rigorous process that a graduate candidate goes through.
In some of the civil services the minimum qualification required is post graduation, like in IES(INDIAN ECONOMIC SERVICES) the criteria is that the candidate must have a post graduate degree in the economics/applied economics/econometrics/business economics.
So you see that for IES a graduate can not apply, other than that there is nothing special for a post graduate, the age limit the different criterias' are all the same.
dear aspirant,
honestly say there is no most important of post graduation while applying to UPSC EXAM.
Because BASICALLY for UPSC CIVIL SERVICE EXAM you should have to passed just graduate / appearing final year from the recognized university.
age should be 21 to 30 years.
age relaxation for obc 3 years, for sc/st 5 years.
you should be indan.
if you will passed the UPSC CIVIL SERVICE EXAM then you can get posts likes IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc....................
so , all the best

Hi Aspirant
Well their is not much importance of the post graduation degree
as for the most of the upsc exams the graduation degree only requires and
you don't get any specific benefit of your post graduation degree too because as
you know their is just a graduation degree required for all of the exams
just for the only Indian Economic Services exam you need post graduation degree from
economics and applied or the business economics but for the main civil services exam
you need a simple graduate pass degree from a recognized indian university
Education :
Graduation pass degree from a recognized university
Age :
It should be between 21-30 and age relaxation for the
reserve candidates as per the government policies
No. of Attempts :
04 : General
07 : Obc
Unlimited for the sc,st
Best of luck
Dear for your kind information that there is no such profit of your graduation or post graduation in UPSC exams because there is no criteria and any relevant subject in preliminary exam that you could get the profit of your subject because if you wish to qualify the preliminary exam then you would have o study hard and there would not be any relevant subject of your degree or PG degree in the syllabus of your preliminary exam but sometimes it matches with history and geography and science candidates but it's too depth to study for preliminary exam but if you go for mains exam after qualify the preliminary exam then you will get the profit of your subject in mains exam means you may choose any two subjects for your mains exam which are offered by UPSC board and may prepare for your mains exam so that suppose if you have completed your master's degree as - M.Sc in Agriculture of Botany or any other subject then you may choose Agriculture subject for your mains exam and you would not have to work hard for that subject and if you have good command over your subject so that you may easily qualify that section so this is the profit of your post gradation in the UPSC exams.
All the best
Hello friend,Being a post graduate is a good prospect for future but as far as UPSC exam criteria is concern there is no special importance that you will receive while applying for the UPSC civil services,The minimum qualification that one needs tohave to apply for the civil services is graduation. As you are a post graduate you are very much eligible for the applying but there is no special sort of treatment for a post graduate good luck....
You know that most of the UPSC exams are conducted for graduate.you can apply for these exams just after graduation so there is no use of post graduation in any field if he/she want to apply for UPSC exams. You will not given any preference over graduates so don't waste your time to pursue post graduation .If you have pursued master degree in science or engineering field then you should apply in core companies for R & D jobs instead UPSC exams since you will get preference +you will get more salary as compared to job through UPSC exam. You can go for teaching if you are interested, there are many institutes which are offering good salary +facilities to stay in their college+food etc. Some colleges where you can apply-
Lovely professional university
Amity university
Delhi university
Singhaniya university.
