The qualification required to apply for the exam is that one MUST be a graduate(3 yrs/4yrs) from a recognized university.

Dear we are really sorry to say that you can not apply for any one of the open competitive examination and departmental limited competitive examination because you have crossed maximum age limit required for both examinations that is

21-30 years for civil service examination

21-35 years for departmental examination of IPS

Relaxation in upper age as 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWDs and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen and this eligibility criteria is for civil service examination but relaxation in upper age as 1 year for OBC and 2 years for OBC that means you are not eligible for any examination after claiming for upper age relaxation also

For IPS post you have to apply for UPSC Civil Services Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year.
Sorry, to say that you can't apply for Civil Services Exam at the age of 40 years.

To become an IPS Officer one needs to sit for the civil services exam.

Civil services exam is conducted by UPSC once in a year.
