    dear aspirant,

IPS stands for Indian Police Services. You can become an IPS officer through Civil Services Exam. Civil Services Exam is conduced by UPSC every year.
For Civil Services you must have completed graduation or appearing in final year of graduation. So you need not to complete MA after B.A. Because B.A is enough for participating in Civil Services Exam.

    Eligibility Criteria For Civil Services:

    >>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.
    >>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

    Limit Number Of Attempts:

    >>General category: 4 attempts

    >>OBC category: 7 attempts

    >>SC/ST category: No Limit

Important dates of Civil Services exam in 2013:

    CSAT(Prelims):

    date of Notification:05.03.2013

last date of receipt of application:04.04.2013

    date of exam:26.05.2013

    Mains:

    date of exam:01-12-2013

You can apply for the exam online on following official link of UPSC:

No need to complete MA if you really want to take IPS because for becoming IPS officer one should have the following:

    • he /she should be indian,tibetan,nepal
    • if they belong to jammu and kashmir in the year 1961
    • relaxation will also be given to the candidates for the lower grade
    • for obc the relaxation is 3 years and for the sc/st it is 5years
    • for the physically disorder people it is 10 years
    • the people who migrated from burma ,pakistan, kenya ,srilanka inorder to settle in india are also eligible.
    • they should have graduation certificate recignized by the university or any other equivalent required for the qualification of any stream
    • even final year students can also appear for the exam.

To become an IPS officer, you will have to appear in civil services examination, organised by the UPSC, every year, through that examination, rank wise, candidates are brought into, the categories, like, IAS, IPS, IFS and so on starting from the first to last. So, in order to be an IPS officer, ou will have to do well in the civil services examination, so that you can get a good rank i the exam, because the priority of IPS is just below that of IAS. To appear in the civil services exam, you need to be graduate, from a recognized university, and thus your B.A. is sufficient, for that, you need not essentially be an M.A. for that. The maximum attempts for the candidate to appear in this exam is, GENERAL- 4 attempts SC/ST- no limit thus, be prepared for the exam with full energy and enthusiasm, to get the exam cleared in the very first attempt. BEST OF LUCK!!!
