Hello
Frankly speaking, there is hardly any stream in engineering which is helpful for the civil services. The civil services mostly are services related to Indian society, culture and you can understand that there is hardly any subject in engineering related to Indian society and culture, even the subjects which one usually studies in engineering are not even in the list of options of subjects, for civil services,so it is basically very difficult for a engineering student to go for civil services,at first he has no subject that is common to what he read through out four year course and secondly he has to study all the subjects from the beginning as all the subjects are completely new for him.
Although civil service like IES(INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES) have some similarities, the IES is applicable to only those students who have a B.TECH/B.E degree in
mechanical,electrical,electronics and communication,civil engineering.
So these subjects are there have to study to become a IES,other than these there is not much of a common subjects.
