both Arts and commerce are good fields. and you should go for in which you have interest because without interest you can't do too much in those field which you are not interested. but if you only want to go for IAS and fully determined then i will advice you to go for ARTS. Arts subjects such as History,Geography is more beneficial in preparation. there are huge benefits of these subjects. first it will help you in preparation for General Studies. Second you can choose it as optional subjects. third Study material is easily available. fourth you can prepare on your own and if you done well you don't need to join any coaching institute. fifth generally we have much knowledge about these subjects.
with these is you will take also Mathematics subject then it will be more beneficial for you and it will help you in quantitative Aptitude.
for IAS post you have to appear in Civil Services exam which is conducted by UPSC. for Civil Services you need graduation in any discipline from recognized college or university with any percentage. and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years. there is applicable relaxation in upper age limit for reserved categories according to government norms.
Good Luck.........
Hey Friend,
It is very good to see that you want to go for the IAS exam.
IAS is Indian Administrative Service. The exam is conducted by the UPSC and is one of the most toughest and prestigious exam in India.
The candidates need to have a graduation degree in any of the streams.
So as per that you may have any of the stream between Arts/Commerce, you are having interest in.
In case of IAS the candidates should have their concepts clear so interest in that subject is very important.
I would also say that you might take up ARTS since you will be beneficial in the IAS preparation.
The study material is easily available and also the preparation can be done by yourself if you want.
The question paper for the subjects of Arts are not that much tough as compared to the Science/Commerce.
Dear Aspirant
As both the streams Arts and Commerce are Good for IAS exam.
But both have there own benefit for exam that i am going to mention below
>>In Arts Stream, you can take Constitution and also Economics which have great
role in IAS exam,But if you choose commerce then it is totaly based on economy and also there is accounts which can prepare you for IAS exam more effectly.
>>In Arts,if you Choose only maths for Graduation then it does not have any benefit in exam,But in Commerce no choice for Leaving Economics behind.
So it is on your interest that you take which Stream, but i suggest you to take Commerce..
All The Best..
hi
yes as you are an arts student you will be knowledged in history and geography which are helpful for IAS.

none of the field is beneficial, always choose your subjects according to your field of interest. if you love to study commerce then commerce is beneficial for you and vice versa.
