IAS exam consist General studies,English ,ESSAY and your optional subjects papers.

General studies consist Mental ability, reasoning and communication skills, Economics other general studies papers.

Therefore IAS exam consist some part of Arts and commerce.

You must be best According to IAS exam preparation.

IAS exam paers does not matter that You are arts or commerce students.

Basically IAS exam GK papers also.

After clearing you can choose any optional subjects of your field related

there is no effect of stream on ias. u work hard on ncert 6 to12.

Commerce is good for IAS because you can score best in commerce and accountancy area as compare to other subjects. commerce people have good understanding of mathematics also, so that is add one advantage for it. So the simple ground rule is "Commerce people can go for arts but arts people can not come for commerce". Go for commerce.
