    Which subjects should I choose for UPSC mains exam? I have completed B.Sc(Microbiology) from University of Pune.

    I have completed B.Sc. Microbiology from University of Pune. So want to know which subjects Should I have to choose for UPSC Mains Exam???

    Please Guide me ...

    Hey friend,

    If you want to join in Civil Services you need to write the UPSC Main exam and other exams in order to join in for the post.

    The candidates who wants to join in Civil service post must write:

    • Preliminary Exam
    • Main Exam
    • Interview
    There are subjects which you can choose out of the listed optional subjects for Main exam,in order for applying for the exam.

    Optional Subjects for UPSC Exam :-



    The following combination of optional subjects are not allowed to apply ::

    ~~ Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    ~~ Commerce and Management
    ~~ Anthropology and Sociology
    ~~ Maths and Statistics
    ~~ Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    ~~ Management and Public Administration
    ~~ Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
    ~~ Any two branches of engineering

    Those who are cleared their Prelims examination then they are called for the next level of Main examination . Mostly Main examination will be conducted in the month of Oct . The Main exam time table will be publish in within one week OR month after announcing the exam results of Prelims .

    To join Civil service then you apply for Union Public Service Commission Exam this exam is conducted in three stages for every year.

    Stages of UPSC Exam:-
    >>Preliminary
    >>Main Exam
    >>Interview

    If you cleared the Preliminary exam then you go for main exam this exam have many optional subject to write the exam.

    The list of Optional subjects of Main Exam:-



    In the list of optional subject you have then you can choose the subject and write the exam.if you select the exam then you called from Interview.

    -> Agriculture
    -> Management
    -> Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science
    -> Mathematics
    -> Anthropology
    -> Mechanical Engineering
    -> Botany
    -> Medical Science
    -> Chemistry

    -> Philosophy
    -> Civil Engineering
    -> Physics
    -> Commerce & Accountancy
    -> Political Science &
    -> International Relations
    -> Economics
    -> Psychology
    -> Electrical Engineering
    -> Public Administration
    -> Geography
    -> Sociology
    -> Geology
    -> Statistics
    -> Indian History
    -> Zoology
    -> Law
    you can choose among your technical subjects if have sound knowledge ,interest in them WHICH you also learn at various level of your study through school days to your graduation which I have shown in orange COLOR among the above option.

    IF you want to choose NON-technical subjects then in MY SUGGESTION "blue marked subjects " are found to be highly scoring & favourite choice among the civil services aspirants following years. besides that their syllabus,books are easily avail in the market.

    there are 25 optional subjects in MAIN exam.
    from that you can choose 2 subjects based on your interest & knowledge.
    as you have completed B.Sc (microbiology) you can choose BOTANY & ZOOLOGY.
    this will be easier for you to clear.
