Negative marking is only there in objective exams. For every wrong option selected, there is 1/3rd marks penalty. If you select more than one choice, then also you will be penalised. But. if you leave any question, there will be no penalty.

Yes dear there is negative marking in Civil Service Exam

There is 1/3rd marks penalty at each wrong answer
If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer
and it will penalized

Yes there is negative marking in both the objective papers of civil services examinations.It is done to pick the real talented candidates as if there will be no negative marking then candidates with little knowledge can clear the exam by just hitting the options.

The scheme of marking for the civil services examinations are ;

Paper I:

>>For every correct answer :two marks awarded.

>>For very wrong answer; 2/3 of marks will be deducted that is 1/3 of a correct answer will be deducted.

That is for every three wrong answers two marks will be deducted.

Paper II;

>>For every correct answers 2.5 marks will be awarded.

>>For every wrong answer 2.5/3 marks will be deducted.

That is for every three wrong answer 2.5 marks will be deducted.

There is negative marking only in Objective Paper, as in subjective how can they cut the marks. So dont attempt the questions which you dont know.
