The syllabus for the general study exam for the preliminary exam is
the upsc has changed its preliminary pattern from 2011 onwards but at present there are no changes in the mains pattern. the optional stand removed in the prelims exam. below i have given the new prelims pattern for the benefit of the aspirants.
Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance � Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development � Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
General Science.
Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level)
Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

Yes friend, there are two paper of general studies in Civil Service preliminary exam.
Friend UPSC didn�t make any latest changes in CSAT exam.
As you know CSAT exam is organized in three stages
Preliminary
Mains
Interview
In preliminary stage there are two paper of general studies: paper I and Paper II.
Each paper has total 200 marks

Friend there is also 2 papers of general studies in mains exam and each paper carries 300 marks.

General Studies paper is an important part of UPSC exam and you have need to very hard work to crack the UPSC exam.
You should study with full of dedication. First of all schedule your time table as per your convenience and exam syllabus.
Study newspaper and competitive magazine for the preparation of general studies paper.
Use reference and NCERT books for the preparation.
You should give the preference equallfy to each subject.
Practice previous year question paper to know exam pattern.
