    Yes. it is true that there is no optional subject UPSC Prelims. And it is expected that UPSC will also remove optional subjects from Mains also from 2013 and may introduce few compulsory papers for all.

    Yes friend , the pattern was changed in the 2011 level and now there is no optional papers in preliminary examination . Now optional papers only in the Main examination . You definitely believe our words . If you have a any doubt about that you can also check the official website of UPSC .

    The UPSC notification have a clearly mentioned about the pattern of the prelims and main examination . For you are benefit i am attaching the last year prelims notification you can go through that notification and also check the from the official website .

    This year prelims notification will be released soon ....

    Yes my friend , it is true there are no optional subject in upsc preliminary exam.
    mainly two subject is considered:
    general studies
    general mental ability

    YES, in the UPSC Prelims Exams there are no Optional papers.

    There are just two Papers and both these papers are common for all the candidates
    Both these papers questions are in the objective mode only

    Topics in UPSC Prelims papers are:
    PAPER 1- Current events, History of India,Indian National Movement, India and World Geography, Indian polity and governance
    General science, Economic and social development,General issues on environmental

    PAPER 2- Comprehension, Basic numeracy, General mental Ability,Logical Reasoning, English Language Comprehension

    Yes, there is no optional is UPSC preliminary exams. And even from 2013, UPSC may remove optional subjects from Mains also. Just wait and watch the notification.

    YEs friend this is true that there is no optional subject will be there in nows UPSC and it may change thire patten also in 2013.
    but for surity you have to wait for final notifiaction.
