If you want to go engineering you can choose that branch in which you have interest there is no such pressure in terms of branch
any branch student can apply for civil services exam
if you are preparing for IAS or IPS then you have to just clear that exam with good score
if you want to go for IES( INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES) then it is better to chose the branch like:
1. mechanical
2. civil
3. electrical
4. electronics and telecommunications
you can apply to this exam being any stream student of engineering but you have too chose any of the 1 listed course to appear in exam
you can clear IES with only these 4 streams
so its better to choose any of the listed stream to do IES in better way.
good luck
hi friend,
There is no specific branch as such which will be useful. It depends upon the optional subject you would like to take. for example there are many candidates who take up the optional subjects mentioned in the upsc syllabus.they take mechanical engg, electrical engg etc as optional subject.
so if you wish to take engg subjects as optional papers the take the corresponding subjects in your B.E. like mech engg, electrical engg.. etc as it will be helpful for you to perform well in the civils.
you should also understand that some engg subjects are not included in the list of optional subjects permitted for the upsc exam.the examples in this category are computer science engg, bio tech etc..
so you have take a final call depending upon the information given above. firts select your optional then think of selecting the degree accordingly as doing the reverse is meaningless.
all the best![]()
Hi
If you are preparing for the mains exam and you need tyo chose up the subject of your graduation in the mains then it is no parameter to decide whether you should a specific branch or the other.
You just need to focus on the study and concept of the subject.
Therefore you can be firm and then you should carry on with the studying of that subject.
