Ies (Indian engineering services)this exam is conducted by UPSC every year. It's status is as good as IAS exam.If you compare with GATE then it is not a compareale thing. The volume of course of IES is not less than GATE a GATE high scorer can join in NAVA RATNA or like wise company which is of course a statusful job and obvipusly monetary gain will be better than IES.IES follow Govt.scale it is secured job and GATE related job is talented job then IES ,gate candidates get opportunities more than IES candidate.
As per my opinion both are toughest course and no sharp comparison can be done. Both are good now it is luck who will do IES or Who will do Gate job.For better survival all are good.
Thank you,
Hello,
IES exam is easier than GATE as the level of question asked in IES exam for technical papers is a little low than that in GATE. But, for IES exam, you need to prepare GS and English as well which makes it a little bit difficult in comparison to GATE exam. Moreover, GATE is for doing M.Tech. but IES exam is for getting Grade A officer's govt. job. So, the purpose of both the exams are different. You need to decide what you want.

Hii Frnd..
No, GATE is Easy.
thanx
dear aspirant, level of both exams are same .if uou scored in IES EXAM.so that preparation is also useful in GATE EXAM. so dont think about difference between them. ....all the best.....
Dear Mr. Guest,
The comparison you are trying to do is very tough as both is very tough. However, I think UPSC IES is tougher than GATE and even better.
Dear Friend
IES stands for the Indian Engineering services and GATE stands Graduate Aptitude test in engineering .These are examinations best for the engineers or who have done their bachelor of technology/engineering.
IES is conducted by the Union Public service commission whereas GATE is conducted by the Indian Institute of technology for the master of technology program .
Both examinations are tough as you can see the examination pattern of both:
IES exam pattern:
GATE exam pattern:
If you want to crack IES examinations ,you should a all rounder which means that you should have knowledge in all fields including your subjects. You must be updated with the current happenings .
Whereas for the GATE exam if you have deep subject knowledge then you will easily able to clear the examinations.
However the syllabus for both the examinations are almost same for any stream like civil, mechanical, electrical etc.
Hope the information helps you.
all the best
