Final year candidates ...awaiting for Results are also eligible to apply for the exam
So you can apply for it after the 2 years
And mean while you better to Prepare for it
And also you must meet the Age Eligibility criteria
Minimum age is :: 21 years
Maximum age is :: 30 years
Relaxation will be available for reserved candidates

It is actually not late to start the preparations. But you don't have much time because you can appear in the final year itself for the UPSC exam... Read newspapers daily, try to be updated with the current affairs because academics you can revise it within one month but current affairs is very tough to revise.... So try to be updated with current affairs.. Try to study books like verbal and non-verbal reasoning to develop[ your aptitude skills...

You are in your 1st year BA course ie. your graduation starting year, so what more you need. It is the right and the best time to start your preparation.
So boot up your preparation.
You are left with 3 years of your graduation and also for IAS exam. this much time is more than enough. No one can stop you from clearing the exam if you sincerely prepare these days.
Now you can either prepare yourself or join some coaching centre for a guidance but all depends on your hard work.
So prepare well and honestly.
You can give your 1st attempt during your last year graduation as students when in last year eligible for the exam.
or If you want you can give after your completion of graduation.
There is no restriction on choosing subjects for optionals so you should not worry about that. You can also choose subjects irrespective of your stream.
As your 1st paper would be on aptitude and general studies so focus on increasing your aptitude in both maths and logical areas.
For general studies and current affairs subscribe to a good newspaper and also some magazines.
Refer to NCERT books for subjects like history, geography, civics and economics etc.
Make a daily routine of studying and stick to that time table.
Friend, presently it is not possible to appear for IAS Examination. Only those candidates are eligible for IAS Examination whose either in the final year of graduation degree or have completed graduation degree. You are in first year of B.A degree course. Until the completion of graduation, you can well utilised the available next two years for better preparation of IAS Examination. You should make a balance in the IAS Exam preparation and studies of BA degree course. As preparation of IAS Examination should not disturb the studies of BA degree course. Focus more on optional subjects, general studies, english essay, mental ability in such a way that each topics must be sufficient & even time. Also try to solve more and more model question paper. If you have sufficient leisure time available, then you can go for joining any reputed coaching centre.

you should make short notes of your book and revise them
you read regularly news paper minimum 1 hour .

in this way you start you preparation .so what now you are not eligible for this exam .

In your spare time you can prepare for ias exam..
You can start with clearing your basics. Start reading the ncert exams from class 6th to 12th standard.
Now you can also spend time in exploring which optional subject you can take up for the exam.read few books of the subject which you are going to take and see whther you are interested in it.
You can also read newspaper and write down very important events that take place around you. you can also improve your general awareness.
Once you finish reading ncert books you can start reading standard books available for the subject..start listening to news/debates etc
at the same time do take seriously your BA degree.You should also give importance to your BA degree to ensure a good back up career.There is always a degree of uncertainity with this exam.

For IAS exam candidates should be graduate from any recognized university and also can apply in last year of graduation.
So in the last year of your graduation you will be eligible for IAS exam , you have time to prepare for IAS exam.
For that exam no percentage requirements , if any candidates just have passing marks in graduation are also eligible.
For that your age must be under 21-30 years.
3 years of age relaxation for BC , 5 years of age relaxation for SC/ST and 10 years of age relaxation for physically handicapped .
