    Hello aspirants,

you asked very good question here,

sc/ st category candidates are the most beneficial candidates in IES examination because they will get many benefits in examination ie:- in age relaxation and no. of attempts also.

that means sc/st category candidate will have the highest no of attempts to attempts the examination as well as highest age relaxation as compared to other category candidates.

and also as per govt. norms there are reservation also for the sc/st category ..so yes there are lots of benefits being a sc category candidate in IES examination.

see the details provided below to know what exactly the benefits you will get in the examination as being an sc category aspirant.

    ## BENEFITS IN AGE CRITERIA:-

    1. generally the age criteria required for the same is 21-30 yrs .

    2. but there are age relaxations are given to obc category and sc/st category candidates .

    * for obc category :- 3 yrs relaxation .( 21-33 years)

    * for sc/st category:- 5 yrs age relaxation.

    ## BENEFITS IN NO OF ATTEMPTS:-

GENERALLY THERE ARE FOUR ATTEMPTS ARE ALLOWED TO CRACK THE EXAMINATION TO A CANDIDATE BUT THERE ARE SOME
RELAXATION FOR OBC AND SC/ST CATEGORY..

    * FOR OBC CATEGORY- 7 ATTEMPTS ARE ALLOWED.

    * FOR SC/ ST CATEGORY- NO ANY RESTRICTION OF ATTEMPTS WHICH MEANS THEY ARE ALLOWED TO SIT IN THE EXAMINATION AS
MANY TIMES AS THEY WANT ACCORDING TO THERE AGE CRITERIA.

BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH , YOU WOULD BE CALLED ELIGIBLE ONLY IF YOU SATISFY THE BELOW CRITERIA ALSO WHICH IS ABOUT TO ELIGIBILITY AND MOST IMPORTANT.

Engineering Services Examination is conducted by UPSC and those who are Engineering Graduates can apply for it.

Following discipline Engineering Graduates are only eligible to apply for Engineering Services Examination.

    -Civil Engineering
    -Electronics Engineering
    -Mechanical Engineering
    -Electrical Engineering

SC (Schedule Caste) candidates will get following benefits in Engineering Services Exam:

    -Age relaxation of 5 years

    -Reservation in vacancies is available

Hence for SC/ST candidates the age limit for this exam becomes 21 35 years which will give them more chances compare to General/OBC category candidates.

If you satisfy the criteria then start preparing for the examination because the selection is on merit. You have to perform very well in the written exam and interview.
