ALL India service:
THere are 3 all India services at present
1)IAS
2) IPS
3) Indian forest service
ALL India services recruitment is done by UPSC (Central govt.) and the selected candidates have to work under state govt.
once a candidate clears these exams, he is given a particular state based upon his rank and he has to serve that state only till he retires from service, whatever may be his home state
Group A service and Group 'B' service :
group A service is there in both central govt. and state govt.
In central govt. group A service means you have higher authority in that dept (not the highest, because of some seniors) and you recruitment order will be signed by THe President of India and information of your recruitment will be published in the gazette of India (official govt.paper)
In case of state govt. the order will be signed by Governor of that state.
In Group B means lesser in rank to group A and lesser powers.

Group A posts are more reputed than Group B posts.
Group A posts have more power and facilities than Group B posts.
the order of recruitment of candidates for group A posts are signed by President
of India and the information is published in Gazette Of India.
