yes dear its abtsolutely a better decision to go for these exams because today more and more students want to go with the govt. Jobs but let me clear you with the subjects that you have read in your engineering will not more help you
dear friend,
yes, it is good to try for Exams like IAS,PCS,IPS and CDS being a B.Tech(CSE) student . because these posts are prestigious and money.
there is no subject related to CSE in these exams. but as you are from CSE you have study math (Math1, math2, math3 and discrete structure) and so you have good knowledge of Math.
and i recommend you to choose math as one optional subject for these exams and another optional subject you can take from ARTS subjects like History and geography.
Good Luck........
Hi Sudesh!
I see your urge for getting to the UPSC services but unfortunately a CSE graduate doesn't have anything other than IES(Indian Engineering Service).
See whether you can select two optional subjects for CSE(Civil Service Examination).
Here's the link to that page http://www.upsc.gov.in/general/civil.htm#CS (Main)
I guess, You can take maths and Public administration as the two subjects.
If you're not good at Maths, Then choose GATE, to do M.tech in IIT's or NIT's.
I wish you all success.

yes dear ,
it is a better choice for you to join the indian govt. And serve the nation through become an
ias/ips or an officer in army
to become an ias you must be an indian and
you must be a graduate from a govt, recognized university.
But it is totally depend on you and your interest of the particular field
because every field has an unique importance.
But if you choose ias than this is the best option for every graduate
because it is the most reputed job in the country.
good luck !!
