    IAS- Indian Administrative Services. it is an imp post and a valuable cadre in both central as well as in state govt. they hold positions in central government. they may hold the position of under sec, director, deputy sec. joint sec, cabinet sec etc.

    IPS- Indian Police Services. they take the charge of law and order and internal security of a country they hold positions in state govt. they could be working for police forces, CBI, CID

    Dear Guest,

    * Both IPS officer and Indian Police services are same.

    * Only difference is that Indian Police service is a service as a police whereas IPS officer is a officer who is appointed by president for this service.

    * Indian Police services is a executive service established by our Indian Constitution.

    * It is a central government service, and any indian citizen who is graduate and between 21-30years or fulfils other eligibility criteria can appear for this service.

    Dear both are same.
    The full form of I.P.S is Indian Police Service.
    To become an I.P.S. officer, you have to apply for civil service exam.

    ELIGIBILITY:-

    --The candidate should have a graduate degree from a Recognized university Or Equivalent Qualification.
    --Final year students can also apply.

    --The Age should between 21 - 30 yrs of age at the time of Appearing(general category).

    --For SC/ST - 35 years.
    --For OBC - 33 years.
    --For Ex-servicemen it is 5 years from the prescribed limits.

    Physical Standard :-

    The physical standard required for the IPS exam is given below:

    Height:
    Minimum height required for men is 165 cm
    Minimum height required for women is 150 cm
    There is a relaxation in height for SC/ST,OBC,Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc. candidates for men it is 160cm and for women it is 145 cm.

    How to apply for I.P.S. exam:-

    --Candidates may apply online using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in.
    Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website

    --Candidates may also apply in off-line. Application forms are available in designated head post offices. Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.

    yes dear both IPS officer and IPS are same....indian police services conducts exams for the candidates and those like candidates after clearing the exam becomes IPS officers....

    IPS stands for Indian Police Service.

    IPS officer means who's recruited for the police service.

    They both are same.

    To be an IPS officer, you will need to write Civil Service Exam which is conducted by UPSC every year.

    yes both are same and IPS is short form of Indian Police Services and for this u need to clear civil sevices ,UPSC is a body which conducts this examinations .
    The CIVIL SERVICES exams are conducted in three phases.
    The Preliminary Exams.
    The Mains Exams.
    The Interviews.

    No, these are same thing. IPS is stand for the Indian Police Service. The IPS examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in every year. To appear in the IPS examination you need following eligibility criteria.

    Eligibility Criteria for the IPS Examination :-
    ->Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognize university.
    ->The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of examination.

    The age relaxation and the reservation in the seat is applicable for the reserve category candidates as per government rule.

    dear friend,

    there is no difference between IPS and Indian Police Services.
    Indian Police Services is just a full form of IPS.
    to become an IPS officer you have to give the CS(Civil Services) Exam. which is conducted by UPSC every Year.

    for CS you need graduation in any field from recognized college or university and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years.

    yes , both are same. IPS stands for Indian police services . if you want to become an IPS officer then you have to apply for civil services examination which is conducted by UPSC every year once and the notification for the examination is released in the month of January and the exam is generally held in may/june.

    for it yo must fulfill the age and eligibility both the criteria(s).

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-

    1. YOU MUST BE AN INDIAN.
    2. YOU MUST BE A GRADUATE WITH A GOVT. RECOGNIZED UNIVERSITY.

    and the officer recruited through the ips exam are known as the IPS officer as you have heard of IPS Kiran Bedi...

    There is no difference between IPS and Indian Police Services as this is the full form of IPS and the exam for it is conducted by UPSC every year and these are the ranks under the civil services exam and for it you need to apply for the exam.
