Indian Police Services is just a full form of IPS.
to become an IPS officer you have to give the CS(Civil Services) Exam. which is conducted by UPSC every Year.
for CS you need graduation in any field from recognized college or university and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years.

IPS stands for Indian police services . if you want to become an IPS officer then you have to apply for civil services examination which is conducted by UPSC every year once and the notification for the examination is released in the month of January and the exam is generally held in may/june.
for it yo must fulfill the age and eligibility both the criteria(s).
