Re: What percentage of marks should I score in graduation to be eligible for Civil Services exam being a scheduled caste minority student?

    Dear friend

First of all I would like to appreciate your desire to join the civil services. The UPSC exams demand just the passing % of marks in the qualifying exam that is you must have passed the bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or during your final year of graduation you can give the civil services examinations.

Being a candidate from the scheduled caste you will have certain advantage over obc and general candidates respectively.

For example ,the age limit for the general and obc is 21-30 years and 21-33 years respectively whereas the age limit for the OBC is 21-35 years for the sc/st candidates.

In case of no of attempts ,

    General:4

    OBC:7

    SC/ST: no limit

So you will have greater opportunity to crack the exam in comparison to the other category candidates .However it is not so much easy to crack it.You need to labour along with smart work ,be always oriented towards your goal and never deviate from your main goal.

The examinations consists of three stages:

1.Preliminary test also called Civil service aptitude test.

    2.Main examination

    3.Personal interview.

With the latest change in pattern of main examination, you will have to give greater emphasis on general studies and science.

Hope the information helps you .If you have any further query then please leave your message here.

For any further details ,please visit www.upsc.gov.in

    all the best

    • Apart from it, you must have the age which must be in between 21 years to 30 years.
    • Upper age relaxations is applicable here.
    • It has three stages which is preliminary exam, main exam and last interview.
