through UPSC you get central govt jobs.
there are lot of posts which are available both under central and state govts which do not come under upsc.
through upsc you get coveted postings like IAS,IES,IPS,IFS etc that is why many people are attracted towards it.
Upsc also conducts various other exams like ssc,scra,cds,cpf,etc..
if you are not interested in writing upsc you can get govt jobs through other openings.
