IFS Exam stands for Indian Forest Service. The entrance exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment of Students for Indian Forest Service (IFS). It is a highly challenging and demanding profession.
IFS Exam 2013 Eligiblity:-
--> A Bachelor�s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal
Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology,
Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor�s degree
in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university or
equivalent.

To join Civil services :
you should have a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks .
Age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines and you should choose that for which civil service do you want to apply means IFS Indian Forest Service
Preliminary Exam : this would be objective type exam in which you will have to attempt two papers in a day and each paper would contain 200 marks so that the grand total becomes 400 and qualifying is important to appear for next exam.
Mains Examination : this would be descriptive type paper where you have to face 7 different papers and total marks would be 2000 for all 7 papers and you will have to be passed in this exam then you would be allowed to face interview process.
Interview Process : If you qualify both papers then you would be allowed to face interview and if you qualify the interview process then you would finally selected for civil services and you would be sent for 2 years training under the government then you will get the appointment.

Examination Pattern for IFoS exam 2013 : There would be 6 papers conducted in this exam and each and every single paper would be conducted in conventional type format means there is no paper would contains objective type multiple choice question papers
1. Paper I - English Language - 300 Marks
2. Paper II - General Knowledge and Awareness - 300 Marks
3. Paper III, IV, V and VI would be conducted on the basis of any two subjects selected from the list and each subject has 2 papers and each paper has 200 marks separate so that the total number of marks would be - 1400 means the maximum marks would be for these papers are 1400.

The candidate must have a degree from a recognized Institute or equivalent qualification and the graduate degree in any following subjects and they are Animal Husbanary & Veterinary Science , Botany , Zoology , Chemistry , Mathematics , Geology , Physics , Statistics OR Engineering degree from a recognized University .
The candidate must have attained the age the minimum age of 21 years and must not have attained the maximum age of 30 years as on 1st August of the year of examination and Upper age limits is applicable for reserved categories . Three years for Other Backward Caste , Five year for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes .
