Eligibility Criteria for IAS Officer Exam under the UPSC Civil Services 2013 :
If you have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized board/institute/university and your age is between 21-30 years then you can apply for this exam and if you belong to SC/ST category or OBC Category then you may get the relaxation in upper age after completing your 30 years of age.
If you are pursuing your final year of degree/B.Com then also you can apply for this exam and prepare well.
Exam Pattern of IAS Officer 2013 :
There would be following three tests/exams in Civil services which are :
1. Preliminary Exam : Objective Type Exam, Two Papers - Each paper carries 200 marks - Total - 400 marks
2. Mains Examination : Descriptive/Subjective Type Exam - 7 Papers - You can choose any Two subjects for mains exam and a separate paper for any of the Indian Language and all 7 papers carries - 2000 marks - English paper would contain 200 marks and all other 6 papers contains - 300 marks each.
Note : Qualifying in both prelims and mains exam is most compulsory to get the chance for next step means if you will qualify the prelims then only you would be allowed to appear for mains exam and after qualifying the mains exam you would be eligible to apply for interview process.
3. Interview Process : After passing in both above steps you would be called for interview process by the UPSC board and this is the final and toughest step for you to become an IAS Officer in Indian and if you qualify this step then you will become an IAS Officer.

but if you are pursuing any diploma than you are not eligible for the IAS
exam because there is minimum qualification is graduation passed.
