Will I have to pass both CDS -I and CDS-II to get the Job?

I have answered cds I on 13 feb 2011,
and the results are not yet announced,
Will i have to answer cds II too.....,
cause i saw the syllabus for cdsII, they are the same as cdsI.
Please let me know what i need to do.

after that there will be SSB of 5 days which you have to clear out to getting a job.

hey dear friend it is the same exam which is conducted by the upsc twice a year so there is no need to qualify both what you have to do is just clear once and wait for the SSB call clear that and then the medical and be in merit and you will an officer ok buddy

Dear aspirant,
Both the exams u are talking about here are all but the same.
Their different names is just a result of being held in two different months of the same year.

So its not necessary for u to appear for the CDS-2 exams if u have already appeared for the CDS-1 exams.
You should wait for your exam results,as if u qualify,u will be called in for an SSB interview held for about a week before the final selected students are cofirmed.

in order to get a job you don't need to get passed in both CDS 1 and CDS 2 you just need pass every aspects of the one of the either exams.......by doing so you will get a job

No there is no hard and fast rule for any one to give both the CDS-I and CDS-II

You can give any one of the exam.

Combined defense service is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

if you attempt the exam then friend you need to wait till the results get declared...

if you had cleared the exam then you would get a call letter for SSB interview (service selection board) followed by physical fitness test

then finally you are going to appoint for the training session

you just need to write only 1 exam either CDSI or CDSII

Both the examinations are same.
So, you need not require to pass both the same examinations.

CDS Stands for Combined Defence Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission as namely CDS I and CDS II .

NO, these both are same exam's conducted at different time during the year for different courses scheduled to be started at the various academy's of three armed forces for entry in JANUARY courses / july courses respectively.


CDS-I & II name given so that candidates won't get confused with information regarding with particular examination.

If you have cleared any one of the exam either CDS-I or CDS-II you do not have to appear for the other. But if You havent cleared either written or interview in any one then you can apply for the other as per eligibility criteria.

CDS or combined defense sevices exams are held twice a year by UPSC.
its not mandatory for anyone to give both exams in a year

But yes if the results of your previous exams has still not been declared you can appear in the next exam just to be on the safer side.

Min eligibilty criteria to sit in this exam is graduation pass for IMA nad OTA wing with age between 19 and 24 years for IMA and 19 and 25 years for OTA

only the time is different for both the exams .

both exams are same but it is conducted twice in a year by upsc.

so if you clear one exam then there is no any necessity of passing the next cds examination

Friend, I would like your confusion over CDS I Examination and CDS II Examination. As both are entirely different. Please note that UPSC conducts the CDS Examination two times within a year. Candidates are free to apply either anyone of the CDS Examination or both the CDS Examination. Moreover, there is same eligibility criteria, age limit, educational qualification. It is a Graduate entry for all three wings,that is only for Graduates.

Now CDSE is conducted twice in a year.

Thus it is named as CDSE(I) and CDSE(II).

Now it is common sense that you can apply for any one,both are same.

You even just mentioned that the syllabus for CDSE(I) and CDSE(II) are same they both are same.
