Dear Aspirant
As both the exams IAS and IES is conducted by UPSC,so the eligibility criteria is also
same in manner of age...
the age criteria for both the exam is
- for general category age 21-30
-For OBC 21-33
-for SC/ST 21-35
The difference is in graduation eligibility level
-for IAS you must have graduation in any manner,no specialization required
-but for IES the specialization is required to be engineering at graduation level
and specialized in electrical, machenical and civil...
All The Best
Definitely the age limits are same for both IES and IAS examination where minimum age for both of these exams is 21 years means you must have completed minimum 21 years of age for this examination but you must not have attained the age of 30 years to apply for this test means this is the maximum limit and you should not cross 30 years maximum age limit to appear for examination
If you are under SC or ST or OBC or PWD or ESM then you may claim for upper age relaxation but that will be provided to you as per government guidelines which is -
5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD, 5 years for Ex-Servicemen and 9 years in case of Widow/ Divorced/ Separated female candidates
But educational qualifications are different for both exams that are following as -
A degree in any discipline from a recognized university is enough for IAS Examination but must have completed graduation in engineering in any one of the civil or electrical or electronics and telecommunication or mechanical engineering from a reputed institute or university to apply
Final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply for both of these exams
All the best
