You may give both examinations by your B.Tech qualification.But for IES examination,You must complete B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics engineering,Civil engineeringMechanical Engineering,Chemical engineering.Because above mentioned branches are only eligible to apply for Indian Engineering Services(I.E.S) examination,remaining branches are not eligible..But in the case of IAS examinations your B.Tech qualification from any branch is most inknlf..
IAS syllabus is common for all streams unlike IES exam.IES syllabus will be from core stream subjects....If you are eligible and able to prepare both exams then only apply for both else choose any one...

You can give both the exams since there is no restriction of discipline in IAS exam.
Since according to UPSC the educational qualification is as follows:
The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recongnized university
Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for CSAT 2013
The degree can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.)
Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university...

To become an IAS Officer you have to clear the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Exam(CSE).
Minimum educational qualification for CSE is Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University.
As a B.Tech graduate you can also apply to other exams conducted by UPSC
like CDS,IFS,CPF,etc including the Engineering Services Exam i.e.IES after meeting all the
eligibility criteria.

Being an engineering graduate you will have double advantage of having a chance at both Civil services and IES.You can apply for both.There are papers of Engineering subjects in the Civil services exam.The qualification required for Civil services is graduation from any stream and being a B.tech candidate,you are eligible for that. Fpr giving the IES exam, you need to be a graduate from any of the following streams of engineering
Mechanical engineering
Electrical engineering
Electronics and communication engineering
Civil engineering
If you belong to any of these 4 branches, then you are eligible of giving the IES exam.
However, by being a graduate in any stream, you are eligible of giving the IAS exam.
The age criteria is same in both the exams.
Your Age should be in between 21-30 years of age. A relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and sc.st students.

No friend there is no restriction to apply for the both exam.
You can apply for the Civil Service exam and Indian Engineering Service exam simultaneously.
This exam is organized by the Union Public Service Commission every year.
Civil Service exam is conducted for the IAS, IPS or IRS posts.
IES exam is conducted for the Chief Executive Engineer post.
Dear if you are willing to apply for both UPSC IAS and IES examination then you can apply for both exams at once but the condition is that you should have enough required eligibility criteria for that examination as if you have mentioned that you have completed your B.Tech that means you are 100% eligible to apply for civil service examination because it requires a bachelor's degree in any discipline which you have but if you wish to apply for Indian Engineering service examination then you need to have completed your engineering degree in any one of the following disciplines
>> Civil Engineering
>> Electrical Engineering
>> Electronics and Telecommunication
>> Mechanical Engineering
and if you have completed your B.Tech in any other discipline then you can not apply for IES examination and age limit follows same for both exams which is minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years and relaxation in upper age as 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

Yes you can give both IAS and IES exam and you are not restricted to only IES as for IAS the eligibility is; You have done graduation in any stream from recognized university.
and for IES you have done your graduation in engineering from recognized university.
The age limit for both the exams is 21-30 yrs.
