i am very interested in UPSC exam but the problem is, i am unable to give much time. since i am working, i can give only 4 hrs daily for the preparation besides my age is 25 open category. please guide me honestly with this amount of time will i be able to crack the toughest exam? & if i can then how many years ill have to study if i am currently studying for only 4 hrs daily?

Yes friend you can do the preparation of Civil Service exam with the time of 4 hours.
Actually 4 hours time is less for the preparation of Civil exam.
If you know Civil is the toughest exam of India and 2nd toughest exam in the world after French Civil Service exam.
And lots of candidates take part in this exam.
That�s why competition becomes highly tough.
But friend it is depends your dedication and hard work for civil exam.
If you study with great concentration than you can do the study of 6 hours in 4 hours.
And friend it is not possible to say about the time duration to crack UPSC Civil exam with the study of 4 hours.
But if you are dedicated then surely you will crack civil exam.
Here I would like to mention one thing that you should not waiste your with short preparation because there is limited attempt for the civil Service exam.
As you mentioned that you are general candidates, so you have minimum attempt than other category.
Attempt to apply for UPSC exam
General candidates can give 4 attempts of CSE.
SC/St candidates can give unlimited attempts of CSE.
OBC candidates can give 7 attempts of CSE.
So friend you should start the preparation from now but fill the application form then when you are confident to crack UPSC civil exam.
You can also take the help of any leading institute for the preparation of Civil exam.

it is recommended that two years of intense preparation with strong devotion and dedication is needed to crack the IAS exam. you won�t be finding a way out with 4 hours of preparation. You need to study for at least 8 hours per day in order to crack the IAS exam

Its up to you how you are preparing withing that 4 hours. UPSC is very vast area, and daily 4 hours will help you with limited extent. There are cases in person study for whole day but not getting result and a person read for few hours daily can get a result, its possible. I advice you to be consistent on study, it will surely help you and you are in open category so you have to work hard than others.
hi friend its not matter how many hours you spent to prepare but the determination matters you should take this exam as a serious thigh dont keep this as a optional career if u really put effort you can clear it since you are working it will be tough to manage your time so plan our shudule once you prepare for upsc its sure your knoweldge develops so you will feel little bit easiy to clear public service exam of your state like tnpsc

Yes, 4 hours are enough for Preparation of UPSC Exam.
You should allot 2 year for Preparation because age limit is 30 years and now you are of 25 years.
CSAT Exam Contains Two Papers, Each of 200 Marks.
And all Question are of Objective type.
Paper-I General Studies and Current Affairs
Paper-II General Aptitude
For General Category Combined score of Both Paper is must be 50% to get Select for Mains Exam.

dear this is your way that how you prepare for upsc exam . and what is your study matter .
i think that it is a little bit sufficient time to preparation for upsc exam . but for success in upsc exam you have to increase your study time around 5 to 6 hours daily in particle method .
and your age bar than if you belong to general category than your age between 21 to 30 and you have 4 attempt for this .
if you belong to obc than your age between 21 to 33 and you have 7 attempt for this
if you belong to sc/st than your age between 21 to 35 and you have no limit attempt for this .
