Of Couse sir u r take the both subject.
it depends on your capability how to study both subject simultaneously.
i give one advice please do not take the physics subject, u r commerce graduate. u have problem to solve the physics law and numerical.
Best of luck for the future.
you can choose any two subjects from the options.
based on your interest and knowledge you can choose.
better you can take commerce & accountancy and maths. this will be easier for you to prepare and get success in mains.
prepare well.
study for 9-10 hrs/day.
all the best.
yes, you can choose them if you are feel comfortable & good in those technical subjects then only i will suggested you,
otherwise go for the subjects like history, geography, public administration.,pol. science any of these you can choose as your two mains optional as these two will consist of major part of your PRELIM's .
so by choosing them it will serve you two purposes prelim's & mains by just studying exact half what you going otherwise.
Of-course Dear, you can go for Maths and Physics as your Optional Subjects. But I think it will be hard for you to crack the UPSC Exam. because I hope, you have not see the books of Physics in the period of your Graduation. And it will be wastage of time to start the same from the beginning. So, as a commerce student I'll suggest you to go for Maths but not for Physics. Instead of Physics you can opt. another easy subjects of Arts eg. sociology, history, etc, in which you can score higher. Good Luck...
Yes, you can take any subjects as optional subjects for UPSC Mains Exam;
But the subjects should be chosen according to your comfort , i.e. you should you should choose those subjects whom you are familiar with , are easily understandable , take less time for preparation and are easily scoring .
So i doubt your combination of mathematics and physics as both are considered difficult and time taking subjects and as you from commerce side you will have to work really hard on physics foundation.
All the best......
dear friend,
yes, you can take Maths and Physics subjects as optional papers in UPSC Mains exam being a commerce graduate.
you can choose any Subjects Listed in optional subjects and it does not matter what are your background .
yes dear for sure ...
you can take subjects which you want but remember then you need to prepare for them in order to clear the exam.
being a commerce student you may not studied mathematics and physics ,
so you will be required to work really hard as compared to other students.
all the best
Dear Applicant,
Irrespective of the subject with which you completed your Graduation, you are free to choose any subject for the Mains exam of the Civil Services, provided it features in the list of optional subjects for the Mains.
Hence, you can definitely choose Physics and Maths as your optional subjects, although being a Graduate through commerce.
However, take note that both these subjects are very technical and you will not find it easy to deal with, having studied commerce for the Past three years.
The level of competition and the questions are very high in Civil Service mains exams.
According to my personal view, you should opt for one of the Arts subjects as your optional subject for the Mains.
The subject including PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION,INDIAN HISTORY,GEOGRAPHY and POLITICAL SCIENCE are very scoring.
They have been a solid area of strength for students of all sorts,in the mains.
Their success rate is much higher on comparison with the other subjects.
Also, added to this, these subjects form the core of the Paper-I of the Preliminary exams, which will help you prepare for both Mains and Preliminary exams simultaneously.
 However,THE FINAL CALL IS YOURS.
IF YOU FEEL THE CONFIDENCE THAT YOU CAN DO WITH PHYSICS AND MATHS,THEN YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GO AHEAD WITH THEM.
There are no restrictions whatsoever.

Dear aspirant ,
if you do your best in this subject so you can take maths and physics in UPSC exam .
because there is no any criteria in upsc that which subject's you graduate that subject you choose in your UPSC mains exam .
so you can choose any subject it's depend on you .
Hi Friend!
First, you need to know what is UPSC.
UPSC is Union Public Service Commission which conducts many exams in which Civil Service Exam(CSE) is one of them.
CSE has a misnomer as 'IAS exam' or 'UPSC exam'.
Yes, you can definitely take those subjects as your optional subjects for the mains.
But those subjects are very vast to study. So I suggest to go with Public Administration
You can have all the details abot the CSE at http://www.upsc.gov.in/
I WISH YOU ALL SUCCESS

Further details please visit Here:-http://Upsc.gov.in
yes of course you can!!!!!!!!
but i think being a commerce graduate you will face a lot of difficulties by having physic as a subject in the MAINS EXAMINATION.
subjects like geography, economics, history are very scoring subjects in this exam .
my suggestion would be you can take one of these scoring subjects along with mathematics would be perfect combination for you.
for now subjects that you can take for the MAINS EXAMINATION ARE
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science,
Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy,
Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management,
Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science,
Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology,
Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics,
Zoology
if you are interested in those subjects then you can take. But in my opinion it is not advisable, because since you are commerce graduate you seems not to have any prior expertise on maths and physics. the syllabus is of degree level and also very vast to cover. There is no proper expert guidance available for maths and physics. YOu have to study yourself, unless you have good knowledge you cannot crack the exam. also very few people attempt this optional, so you have to be among the top 20 to clear. Think off all the possibilities and then choose. Its my suggestion, you have to take the decision
