Hello,
You will have to attempt a total of 9 papers as follows:
GS - 2 papers
Maths - 2 papers
Physics - 2 papers
Essay - 1 paper
Regional Language paper - 1 paper
English - 1 paper
Regional language and English paper are of qualifying nature. Only if you score a minimum marks in these, other answer sheets will be evaluated.
I am really amazed by your post. You don't know even the basics of IAS exam and you have chosen you subjects. Are you really serious about the exam? A serious candidate would have made himself well aware about the exam first and then move forward. Do you even know that how much efforts you will have to put in maths and physics. Mere love of maths and physics won't sail you anywhere in this exam. The syllabus is very wide and you will have to put a great deal of effort to even complete the syllabus.
My sole purpose to write above para was not to discourage you but to warn you of what lies ahead for you. Hope you make right decisions in your life.
Thanks,
goyalk
