hello friend,yes you can write CDS EXAM ,As you are 3rd year Engineering student you can apply for CDS but the eligibility criteria for this exam is as under :-1. Graduation in any stream from a recognisedinstitute.2. Age-19 to 24 years for Army.3. Age-19 to 23 years for Air Force.4. Age-19 to 22 years for navy.5. Should be a citizen of India, bhupal & Nepal.This exam is conducted twice in a year by the UPSC. Common UPSC form is used for this. This exam consists two phases-Written Examination & SSB interview. Candidates who pass the written examination are called for theSSB interview and the candidates who pass the SSB interview have to undergo medical examination to show their medical fitness. Thecandidates who pass in the all the three phases are finally selected to serve in the Indian Armygood luck....

you are in 3 rd year of your engineering degree so right now you are not eligible for this exam.

When you will appear your final year exam that means 4th year then you are eligible for this exam and then you can apply for this exam

Eligibility Criteria For CDS is

candidate should be completed graduation
For air force with subject MATHS and PHYSICS is required,

candidate who are appearing final year exam are also eligible

Age Limit

For IMA 19 to 24
For OTA 19 to 25
For NA 19 to 22
For AFA 19 to 23

Must be Indian

Only final year engineering candidates are eligible for this exam.You cannot apply for this exam because you are in engineering 3rd year.With engineering degree you can also apply for AFCAT exam .
AFCAT exam eligibility - 1>Engineering degree from a recognized university.
Age must be between 21 to 27 years.
Martial Status - Unmarried candidates
Eyesight must be normal.

CDS exam eligibility -1>For Air force Academy - Candidates must be passed graduation with physics and maths subjects.
Age limit - 19 to 23 years.

For Officers Training Academy - Candidates must be passed graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
Age Limit - 19 to 25 years.

sorry to say but you can,t apply for CDS EXAM in 3rd year because you should have topassed graduate / appearing final year from the recognized university for CDS EXAM.

Basic eligibility for CDS is
1.graduation or engineering from a recognized university.
It is import ant to note that
# for IMA(Indian Military Academy) And OTA(Officer's Training Academy) student should have passed Graduation from a recognized university .
# for Indian Air Force Exam the candidate should be pass in Graduation With Physics or Maths.


Age for
IMA 19-24 years
OTA 19-25 years
IAF 19-22 years

OBC and SC/ST category gets an age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years respectively.

Sorry friend but you cannot apply for CDS Exam while in 3rd year engineering. You must be a graduate or a final year student to apply for the CDS Examination.
The eligibility criteria for CDS Exam are as follows:
Nationality:
The candidate must be Indian.

Age Limit: Male candidates (Unmarried) of age between
(i) For IMA: 19-24 years.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: 19-22 years.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: 19-23 years.
(iv) For OTA: Male candidates (married or unmarried) of age between 19-25 years.
(v) For OTA: Unmarried Women of age between 19-24 years.

Educational Qualification:
(i) For I.M.A. and OTA: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Final year students can also apply.

Being in the pre final year you are not applicable for the CDS exams.

The candidates who have completed their graduation are applicable for the exam or them who are studying in the final year can apply ,so that they can give the exam in that year only and so that they do not have to wait for the next year to give the exams.

So you are not applicable now.
