A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable in the follwing cases:
- Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe: upto a maximum of five years.
- Other Backward Classes: upto a maximum of three years.
- State of Jammu & Kashmir (Domiciled during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989): upto a maximum of five years.
- Defence Services personnel : upto a maximum of five years
So if your age is below 30 years and if the college from where you did your graduation is recognised by UGC,then you can sit in the exam!
It doesn't matter even if you have a gap of 3 years!

Yes Definitely you are 100% eligible to apply for Civil Services because there is no rule or restriction for those who had been a long between their studies means those candidates who had gap in their studies are also eligible and can apply for UPSC Civil services exam but their age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and SC/STs should not have more than 35 and OBCs should not be more than 33 years then they would not be allowed to appear for these civil services exam and they must have secured at least 50% marks in degree and 45% marks in case of SC/STs.
