    Can we choose Statistics as an optional subject for UPSC Forest Services Exam?

    can we choose statistics as optional paper for

    Examination Pattern for UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination

    Preliminary Examination :

    The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each

    Both of the papers will be of the objective type (Multiple Choice Questions)

    Paper I will be for - General Studies and Paper II will be for CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test

    Qualifying in Preliminary Examination is mandatory and there is no bar that you have to get qualified in both papers, just secure enough qualifying marks that are required including marks of both papers

    Main Examination :

    The written examination consisting of the following papers :

    Paper I - English Language/ General English - 300 marks

    Paper II - General Knowledge/ General Awareness - 300 marks

    Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of the optional subjects set out below.

    Each subject will have two papers that contains 200 marks each

    All the papers will be conducted in conventional type and qualifying in each is compulsory

    List of Optional Subjects from that you can choose any two for Last Four Papers of Main Exam

    Agriculture
    Agriculture Engineering
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Botany
    Chemistry
    Chemical Engineering
    Civil Engineering
    Forestry
    Geology
    Mathematics
    Mechanical Engineering
    Physics
    Statistics
    Zoology

    Provided that all the candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects :

    Agriculture and Agriculture Engineering
    Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Agriculture and Forestry
    Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
    Mathematics and Statistics
    Of the Engineering subjects viz. Agriculture Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering - Not more than one subject

    As you can read that you can choose Statistics as optional subject with the combination of any subject except Mathematics

    This year's Indian Forest Service Prelims Examination has been conducted in May 2013 and Main examination will be conducted soon according to the dates declared by UPSC board so you have enough time if you want to prepare for this examination so be serious and take any good coaching from a reputed institute and get prepared for next year's IFoS examination
