    OTA trains officers for short service commission only... But IMA trains it for officer entry.. OTA is nothing but training but IMA is a service which is a gentleman post...

    Hello

    IMA stands for Indian Military Academy.
    A entry in Indian Army.

    OTA stands for Officer Training Academy.
    A entry in Indian Army.

    Both IMA and OTA are entries in Indian Army.
    The only difference between entry through IMA and entry through OTA is

    IMA provides Permanent Commission to the cadres.

    Permanent Commission means a service of maximum 30 years in Indian Army.

    OTA provides Short Service Commission to the cadres.

    Short Service Commission means a service of 14 years maximum in Indian Army.

    This is the only difference between IMA and OTA.

    Dear There,

    IMA and OTA are two different Wings of Indian Defense. Candidates who with their future in Indian Defense are recruited in four Wings of Indian Defense. A CDS examination is conducted twice every year by the UPSC through which candidates fulfill their dream to be an officer in Indian Defense.

    The difference between IMA and OTA is mentioned below:

    IMA - It is a Permanent Commission to the cadres of maximum 30 years in Indian Army

    OTA - It is a training academy where cadres are trained for Short Service Commission. Cadres get a 49 weeks training course and posted in all branches of the Army (excluding Army Medical Corps).

    Required Age and qualification for IMA and OTA are

    * Graduate in any stream.

    * 19-24 for IMA

    * 19-25 for OTA.

    Thanks.
