there is no any priority given to the IITians or NITians .they are also treated as the same as any other student of ordinary college , which means there are no any criteria of priority for any person or we can say that the college does't matter here ,

No the it is not going to matter but what matters is your rank, your score in the IES exam and nothing else is going to effect.

    Only your performance matters.

Re: Do IIT or other prestigious engineering college students get priority in Indian Engineering Services examination?

    Hello

As you must know that engineering degree is necessary to be applicable for the Indian engineering Services, but the background of the college/university of your degree is not going to help you in any way.The college name and reputation has really nothing to do with the selection of a candidate. The only factor that will be noticed from your degree and certificates is that whether you have complete your degree in any engineering stream from a recognized university by UGC and a AICTE approved college.

The selection of the officers will solely depend on the performance that you give in your exam of the IES exam and nothing else, the three stages of exams that is the preliminary, mains ,interview. It is just like that as you must have given the entrance IIT-JEE to get in to the college of IIT or any other reputed college, and it was the rank that your secured in the entrance competitive examinations for engineering that gave you the seat in the college and not the name of your school or even the percentage you secured in 10+2.
