Selection procedure of IRS consists of three stages :-

1] Preliminary examination

2] Mains examination

3] Personal interview

Eligibility Criteria For Civil Services:

AGE LIMIT:
>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

To enter into a career as IRS officer / officer grade directly you have to pass the Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The exam is usually held in the month of April.

The minimum qualification required for applying for CSE is graduation from a recognised university. Candidates, who have attained 21 years of age but not attained 30 years of age on August 1st of the year of examination are eligible to apply.

The preliminary examination (prelims) is the process through which candidates are short listed for the main written examination. Candidates qualifying the main (written) exam are called for personal interview.
