Why the candidates who are opting science and engineering subjects are scoring better in Mains and getting qualified for further rounds of recruitment? Is it due to scoring nature of their subjects or any other reason behind it?

hey guyz i m 16yrs old in 11th taken science stream..(m also an IAS aspirant)
today in news paper i read tat it is often said that candidates opting for science and engineering subjects score better in MAINS n most of them r qualified...it is only due to the scoring nature of their subjects or due to some other factors,tat is not knwn yet.
i was thinking to do BMS aftr 12th...bt this article brought me in a confussion.
i dont want to feel regretting later on my disission...can u all advice me wat shud i do..??..<< plss >>..
