    Dear Friend,

Next UPSC Civil Services examination notice will be out in the month of January to April.
So you should keep yourself informed for the upcoming notification.

You cannot choose the Mathematics and Statistics subject combination.
There are certain combinations of optional subjects which UPSC does not allow.
Following is the list of subjects which UPSC does not allow for combination:

    >Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    >Commerce & Accountancy and Management
    >Anthropology and Sociology
    >Mathematics and Statistics
    >Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    >Management and Public Administration
    >Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineeringnot more than one subject
    >Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science

So as you can see Mathematics and Statistics subject is mentioned in the list so you cannot opt for that combination.
You have to either chose Maths or Stats and choose some other optional subject for preparing UPSC examination.
Mathematical problems will be mostly of school level.
So if you were good in maths in your school days than I guess you can manage this subject.
Maths is very scoring subject but you need to do a lot of practice for it.

    Hope it guides you well.

    All the best.

    Regards.
