Public administration is good subject for the preparation of civil service exam and you can perform well in this subject.
In the civil service preliminary exam you have not need to opt optional subject. It is objective type.
In mains exam you need to choose two optional subjects for the preparation and this is subjective type paper.
For the preparation of public administration paper use reference books and NCERT books.
To get the study material you should join any good coaching institute.
You should also practice previous year question paper to understand the exam pattern and sort out your weak point.
