Clear my confusion regarding optional subject selection with combination of public administration. Also suggest study material for same (Preferably e-books).

hi, this is my first post and i need your kind help choosing my mains subject ...

we are having a State PSC exam coming up which has same subjects and syllabus and exam patterns ....

i am a computer sc grad and have familiarity with publim adm as subject (i did MPA from IGNOU)...

so my first choice is public adm ...

but since i have no other familiar subject in my grad level .... once for Civil Service Exam i had chosen Sociology but it in turn felt bit hard as it has so many theories and remembering theorists became very confusing and hard to me....

so i am not able to think of next subject ..... which one is suitable for me.

also suggest me Books for them ....
and where can i get previous year question papers for mains (online preferably).

    thankyou.

    Dear Friend,

Yes Public Administration is very popular subject among IAS aspirants.
It includes major syllabus which will help you to prepare for Prelims as well along with your Main Examination Target.
Well there are number of optional subjects which you can choose from.
Buddy choosing optional is highly personal choice which differs from person to person.
Once candidate may like Economics and one may hate it.
So every subject has their own advantages and disadvantages.
Many people choose Sociology, Indian History, Geography, Psychology with Public Administration.
But since you are saying Sociology is hard to prepare for you. You can opt for different ones.
    Many fail and many succeed.
This time to thorough research on to subjects and choose wisely.
You need to ask yourself whether you are comfortable with particular subject and its syllabus.

Following are the optional subjects for your reference:

Following are list of Optional Subject Combination not allowed in the examination:
    >Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    >Commerce & Accountancy and Management
    >Anthropology and Sociology
    >Mathematics and Statistics
    >Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    >Management and Public Administration
    >Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering–not

    more than one subject
    >Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science

Hope it helps you out in your preparation.
Feel free to revert back for any more queries.

    All the best.

    Regards.
