During you private service, you can prepare for IAS exam. First of all you must know exact syllabus for the UPSC exams like IAS/IPS/IFS then you should study the prescribed syllabi thoroughly. In addition you must have continuous study on latest GK. Your regularity in study is highly desirable.

so,
1)goal setting is your priority
choose which exam you ll give eg- ias ips
2)multi task management
you should be able to manage many things together
regular gk &English study is necessary
GK- daily English newspaper , any of your office magazine
English - ----WREN & Martin------ is the best book
vocabulary should be improved
3)hard+smart+regular work is required
4)choose subjects for your mains exam
5)give revisions on weekends to whatever you ll read the whole week
6)first complete your preliminary exam preparation , till then work for only 2 hrs per week for
the mains exam
Nothing is impossible

well preparing for IAS is not an easy job but not difficult one

keep yourself updated with GK , current affairs and others as well
